Healthcare and serving the needs of others is in my DNA. In 2014, I graduated from Florida A&M University with a Doctorate in Pharmacy & Pharmaceuticals Science. As a pharmacist, I realize work-life balance is extremely important.
In 2017, I discovered yoga to decompress myself from the stress of daily life, however over time yoga became a guided light to help me understand the importance of self-care and what self-care means on an individual level. As a pharmacist, I explored the generic or idealistic approach of what a healthy lifestyle meant, but yoga introduced a realistic approach to defining my journey, which lead me to become a yoga instructor with an emphasis on Ayurveda principles.
With the emphasis of food is medicine in the Ayurveda practice, I decide to attend Georgia State University where I graduated with master’s in nutrition. This helped me to evaluate and develop a more holistic approach to life and incorporate this knowledge into a healthy lifestyle best suited for me. My approach to yoga as well as my healthcare background serves as tools to truly help women of culture develop a unique and individualize approach to self-care and overall wellness.
